The main aim of the development of the breed was to create a bird that is fleshy and has little dark pin feathers. However, this program did not meet the expectation of many as the animal tend to be smaller than expected.
In 1951, the American Poultry Association of Perfection admitted the bird in their list but at around 1971, the bird started becoming extinct but a big thanks to Livestock Conservancy for keeping the heritage turkey for future references.

The birds range between small to medium size. Both the tom and the hens tend to be fleshy making them suitable for meat production. The tom has an average weight of 10.5kgs and the hen weigh about 5.9kgs.
