History and Origin of American Sable Rabbit

The rabbit breed is not that popular across the world but it occurs as a result of crossbreeding different kinds of chinchilla rabbits.

The breed of the rabbit was developed by Otto Brock in California in the early 20th century. He conducted several crossbreeding tests until a recessive gene passed resulted in the sable rabbit with different colors.

In 1929, the breed was recognized by the American rabbit breed association. It is also the same year the breed was accepted by the Cavy Breeders Association.
